Arts & Culture
Music plays a vital role in the development of a child. At St George’s lessons are offered in woodwind, brass, strings, recorder, piano, percussion and bass guitar. A team comprising five permanent and one part time staff teach all the instruments on offer.
Recorder lessons are offered to Grade 2 pupils and all other instruments to pupils in Grade 3 and above. Pupils are given two half hour lessons per week and we also have a Junior Band. Pupils in Grades 1 – 3 enjoy class music within the school curriculum.
Art lessons are offered to all pupils in Grades 1–3 within the curriculum with our specialist Art teacher, local artist, Mrs Jenny Maltby. These classes are held in our wonderful, very well equipped Art Studio in the Carol Arts & Media Centre.
Art is also offered as an extra-mural activity in the afternoons. These lessons are charged for separately.
Speech and Drama classes are offered to all pupils in Grades 1 – 3 within the curriculum. Classes are held in our well-equipped Drama studio in the Carol Arts & Media Centre. Our specialist teacher, Mrs Annaline Stiglingh, also offers extra-curricular Drama (Spotlight Drama) to enhance self- esteem and promote self-confidence. These lessons are charged for separately.
