Tours and Festivals
St George’s Prep believes in the educational value of sports tours as well as Derby Day fixtures and festivals. It often provides wonderful opportunities for our pupils to experience the different provinces as well as different schools and their ethos in and around our beautiful country.
The pupils of St George’s Prep continue to fly the flag on the sports field. The Prep has had an incredible year on the sporting front and many memories were made at both festivals and tours.
2015 Prep sports tours in included:
Oakhill Chukka Water polo Festival – We took a boys and girls side to participate in the only open water polo Festival in Southern Africa. This unique experience is a definite highlight and the ambiance of the Garden Route never disappoints.
Bloemfontein Winter Sports Tour – This tour party included the Girls 13A netball and hockey sides as well as the u13A boys’ soccer side. Competition is always tough in this region but certainly provides growth and improvement. We were also extremely fortunate to visit our favourite lion and tiger shelter which is always a huge attraction.
Hilton/Michaelhouse Hockey Festival – The u13A boys hockey side attends this prestigious event every second year. In the heart of the midlands, the scenery is superb. The boys get to experience the “Spud” scene and this tour always includes an intense hockey schedule.
Garden Route – The u11A and u13A cricket sides ventured down the Garden Route to do battle on the cricket field. It is a rather short tour but competition is still very much competitive and Backward Point always host a great week of cricket.
