St George’s

Learning through sport is a key strategy in developing a child’s physical, social and emotional skills. We consider sport to be an important part of your child’s education at St George’s as it creates opportunities to work together and to share success. Enjoyment, fun and satisfaction are primary purposes, while character, team work and camaraderie all develop in the sporting context and play an important role in social development. Sport also provides a host of community occasions over the course of the year which has the effect of knitting the school community together.

The Prep offers a wide choice of sporting codes, ensuring that every pupil will find a sport which suits his or her personality, interests and physique.

St George’s pupils participate in a wealth of sports, instilling a healthy and happy lifestyle. It is compulsory for all pupils to attend our sporting sessions each week in both summer and winter e.g. boys participate in soccer and rugby in winter and girls participate in netball and hockey.

Most sporting fixtures are held during the week after the school day and some sport fixtures and events are held on Saturday mornings offering parents the chance to catch up and watch their children in action.
