A message from our Campus Head, Mr Alex Hall
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the St George’s Preparatory website.
St George’s Preparatory School, founded in 1936, has grown and developed over its 82 years of existence here in Port Elizabeth. Originally an all-boys Preparatory the school now numbers over 420 pupils, both boys and girls, aged from 3 to 13 on its campus opposite the iconic St George’s Cricket ground in Park Drive.
Time stands still for no-one and St George’s prides itself on planning for what is not only required today but also for the future to make education relevant to our pupils and best prepare them for a world grappling with exponential change. The skill sets required in the workplace today are vastly different from those of the industrial era when formal education was initially introduced. What will our pupils’ workplace look like? In this information-rich era we currently live in, the recital of facts and the mere drudgery of memorising content may not cut it anymore!
Perhaps the most important aspect of our pupils’ school day is the hidden curriculum on offer, via our various pastoral and house-based programmes where every child is known and treated as an individual. We strive to create a safe environment where all our boys and girls know that they have a voice, a space where the development of their EQ is as important, if not more important than their IQ. Christian based principles alongside our five core values of Respect, Integrity, Kindness, Family / Fellowship and Commitment are the moral compass for our boys and girls. Ultimately it is our wish to promote learning in a safe and happy environment where our boys and girls are at the centre of all our decisions.
Do come and visit us and experience St George’s friendly and stimulating atmosphere for yourself.
We look forward to meeting you.
